Kde je... #8

Here I go again, posting another picture with a statue. This one has quite a story.
If you can figure out who the statue depicts, you probably can figure out were it’s located.

I'd rule out a saint--no halo. He's got a crown so he must be a king, right?

Yes, this is St. Stephen, the first king of Hungary (1000–1038). He greatly expanded Hungarian control over the Carpathian Basin during his lifetime, broadly established Christianity in the region, and he is generally considered to be the founder of the Kingdom of Hungary. Because of sometimes strained relationship between Slovaks and Hungarians, the unveiling of this new statue in a Slovak town on the border with Hungary caused quite a stir. Many Slovaks saw the statue as a provocation and unwelcomed reminder of Hungarian control of what is today Slovak lands. Hungarians make up about 10 percent of the population of Slovakia and mostly live in the south of Slovakia.
