In the collection of photographs below, several have people dressed in kroj – traditional costumes, and singing or playing music. Though it is not common in the cities, in the villages people still dress up in traditional clothes and gather for special events such as holidays.

The pictures of the young people singing are from a village in the region north of the Tatra Mountains. They are celebrating Shrove Tuesday (Mardi Gras), which is the last day of the Fašiangy season.
